SEEN Christmas Trees
Creativity, Connection and a little bit of Christmas Magic

At SEEN Learning Collective, we believe creativity has the power to support wellbeing, build confidence and create connection.
Christmas is a time of togetherness, joy and a bit of magic. SEEN Christmas Trees has been created to bring people together, celebrate each others art and creative projects, and provide a space where everyone’s ideas can be seen.
We are here to:
-
Spread Christmas Joy
-
Encourage creativity
-
Value the art and creative expression of people of all ages
-
Build relationships in their community
-
Showcase the heart of SEEN Learning Collective
-
Raise funds to support SEEN’s ongoing work
Every tree entered helps create a magical experience for the Rotorua community while supporting a meaningful local cause.
SEEN Christmas Trees is a community Christmas exhibition celebrating creativity and togetherness.
We believe that creativity is an essential part of being human. Something that can be forgotten or neglected in this crazy, busy world we live in. We invite you to challenge yourself to get involved, speak kindly to yourself as an artist, and perhaps surprise yourself with what you can create.
Individuals, whānau, schools, community groups and businesses are invited to create their own Christmas tree and enter it into our festive exhibition. Trees can be made from almost anything - traditional decorations, recycled materials, art supplies, natural resources, handmade creations, lights, colour, texture and plenty of imagination.
The trees will be displayed in a magical Christmas exhibition at the Hindu Heritage Centre Rotorua,
This event is a fundraiser for SEEN Learning Collective, helping us continue to support children and young people through creativity, connection, belonging and wellbeing.

Tree Categories for 2026
Once Upon A Tree
Step into the pages of your favourite storybook, and craft a tree inspired by fictional characters and far away lands
Christmas Through the Ages
Travel through time by creating a tree inspired by the past, present or future. Think Christmas with the dinosaurs, in the Middle Ages, Art Deco, the 1960s or even 100 years from now. Each tree represents a single moment in time. Together, they'll create a forest that visitors can explore through the ages
We Are Rotorua
Celebrate the people, places, cultures and stories that make our community unique. Whether you're representing a school, business, community group, whānau or simply yourself, show us what makes you, you.
Earth's Treasures
Celebrate the beauty of the natural world by creating a Christmas tree using natural materials. From leaves, branches and seed pods to shells, stones and flowers, let nature be your inspiration.
Marvelous Miniatures
Great things come in small packages. Show off your craftsmanship by creating a miniature Christmas tree between 1cm and 20cm tall
